Deen NZ ("the app") is developed and maintained by Nextwave NZ. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your rights as a user. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Information We Collect

Location data
The app requests access to your device's location to calculate accurate prayer times and the Qibla direction for your area. Location is used only on-device and in real time — it is never stored on our servers or shared with third parties.

App settings and preferences
Your preferences (such as notification settings, chosen adhan style, and theme) are stored locally on your device using standard on-device storage. This data never leaves your device.

Prayer tracker
Your prayer tracking data is stored locally on your device only. It is not uploaded or shared.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal details (unless you use the admin features, which require a login — see below).
• We do not track your usage behaviour or analytics.
• We do not show advertising.
• We do not sell any data.

Admin Features

The app includes an admin section for authorised mosque administrators to add and update mosque listings. Admin users sign in with an email address and password via Google Firebase Authentication. This data is handled by Google and subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services:

• Google Firebase (Firestore, Storage, Authentication) — for mosque, restaurant, and halal product listings. Google's Privacy Policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy
• GitHub — prayer timetable data and adhan audio files are fetched from a public GitHub repository. No personal data is sent to GitHub.
• Google Fonts — fonts are loaded at runtime from Google's servers. Google's Privacy Policy applies.

Permissions

• Location — required to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction for your area.
• Notifications — optional, used to send prayer time reminders.
• Camera — used by mosque administrators to scan QR codes or upload timetable images.
• Photo Library — used by mosque administrators to upload timetable images.
• Microphone — requested by the camera framework; the microphone is not actively used by this app.

All permissions are optional where noted and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.

Data Retention

All on-device data (settings, prayer tracker) is deleted when you uninstall the app. Mosque and halal listing data on Firebase is managed by Nextwave NZ and retained for as long as the service is active.

Children's Privacy

Deen NZ does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The app contains no content inappropriate for children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
